アルヴァ・アアルトが1932年に発表したアルテック社の『スツール60』。どれだけの時代を経ても色褪せない美しさを誇る名作に、200年以上続く重要無形文化財、久留米絣の生地を張ったスペシャルモデルを〈フェニカ〉が製作。伝統の技法による織りで表現されたカモフラージュ柄が新鮮。不朽の大定番の新たな表情を引き出した。
Since Alvar Aalto released the masterpiece in 1932, ARTEK’s “STOOL 60” has fascinated the world with its timeless design. To give a fresh, innovative look, fennica covered the stool with Kurume-kasuri, a Japanese traditional ikat fabric which is registered as the country’s important intangible cultural heritage. The lovely camo pattern is just irresistible.

イラストレーター兼グラフィックデザイナーのスケートシングとトビー・フェルトウェル、ユタカ・ヒシヤマの3名が立ち上げた〈シーイー〉。独自のグラフィックが魅力の同ブランドが〈ビームス〉からの依頼を受けて、ヴィジュアルブック『C.E OWNER’S MANUAL』を製作。そのリリースに合わせて、同書のコンテンツから派生したウエアやグッズに加え、〈ヴァンズ〉の日本未展開スニーカーをベースに再構築された〈シーイー〉スペシャルモデルもリリースされる。未だ全貌が明らかにされないこのプロジェクト。今後の展開に注目したい。
21 C.E. is a brand run by illustrator/graphic designer SKATE THING, Toby Feltwell and Yutaka Hishiyama. Having created various products with unique graphics based in street culture, the brand is releasing its visual book titled “C.E OWNER’S MANUAL” published by BEAMS. And, to commemorate the launch, they have made exclusive products featuring new graphics created for the book. The brand will also release a pair of VANS sneakers, which have not previously been available in Japan. There’re still some more details to be revealed about this project, and certainly there is more to come from C.E.

SIERRA DESIGNS, KAPTAIN SUNSHINE and BEAMS PLUS collaborated again to reproduce this legendary “Minaret Parka.” Although SIERRA DESIGNS stopped the production ages ago, the down jacket provides the highest level of insulation among all the products from the brand.
